The only problem with good detectives is that you want to watch them to the end, and right away. So you can spend the night watching one by one seasons of an exciting series, and at the same time he excitement to eat everything that came to hand. We are, if anything, for healthy sleep (and food), but it will be difficult to go to bed with these detectives!
One of the best Russian TV series this year and another success of the new KION service. Anton Vasiliev, who got the role of a friend of the protagonist in "The Germans", is a soloist here, and it is thanks to him that you literally swallow the series in one gulp.
Sergei Smirnov, one of the best "hunters for maniacs" in Moscow, at the special invitation of the governor, begins to investigate the abductions and murders of boys in his hometown of Khrustalny. He does not want to go there, and gradually we understand why: the city evokes far from the best memories. To get rid of them, he not only went to Moscow, but also changed his last name. But, as usual, you can't run away from yourself, so the murder investigation becomes just a background for the drama of the protagonist, who needs to accept himself and his past.
Meir of Easttown
The plot will help to understand the complicated title of this series. Meir Sheehan is a detective from a small American town called Easttown, investigating the murder of a child while her own life is going downhill. Complicating matters is the fact that in her youth, Meir became known as the basketball pride of the city, making a successful shot - and after 25 years, residents still expect a miracle from her. Connoisseurs of harsh American dramas will surely watch this show even without our recommendations. What makes the project appealing to a wider audience is Kate Winslet in the title role. The last time a film star condescended to television, we received the amazing Mildred Pierce (2011), and Winslet herself received a bunch of awards. By the way, in the new series, the actress was again composed by Guy Pearce, which is not an extra reason to watch the series!
British mini-series based on real events, more precisely, on the history of a real person. The Serpent is the nickname for Charles Sobraj, a Franco-Indian serial killer and elusive criminal who hunted Western tourists in Nepal, Thailand and India. They were also called the bikini killer and the hippie killer, but no matter how funny the nicknames are, behind them is a cunning and dodgy killer who for many years managed to lead the police by the nose. You've probably heard about him - he willingly gives interviews and feels like a winner, even when he is behind bars.
The contrast of the merry atmosphere of the 70s and violent crimes makes you follow what is happening on the screen with bated breath, and the wonderful actor Takhar Rahim will definitely remain in your fantasies for a long time. We promise!
Vampires of the Middle Lane
"Vampires of the Middle Lane" is perhaps the most interesting project of this spring. In it genres are interestingly intertwined, there is a cool cast and an unusual color for our cinema. The creators of the series do not hide that they were inspired by the cult comedy "Real Ghouls", but they quickly came to the conclusion that the life of bloodsuckers in Russia should be more difficult than their New Zealand counterparts. Hence the detective line and the rich history of Smolensk, where the confrontation between vampires, an unknown ripper, investigators from Moscow and harsh "keepers" who enforce vampire-human parity is unfolding.
It is curious that the series reached the viewer for several years - the pilot was filmed in 2018, and for the role of the leader of the vampire "cell" of Grandfather Glory, the actor Yuri Stoyanov even then received the prize of the Russian festival of television series "Pilot".In the final version, the people's artist was accompanied by Artem Tkachenko ("Gogol"), Ekaterina Kuznetsova ("Kitchen"), the star of youth TV series Gleb Kalyuzhny ("New") and screen veteran Tatyana Dogileva.
In her eyes
An original Netflix miniseries based on Sarah Pinborough's best-selling book. A young woman meets a man in a bar and starts an affair with him, but it turns out that this is her boss and that he is married. She also meets his wife, and at first glance, the wife seems ideal, but is this so? What do these relationships hide and what role does a new acquaintance play in them?
The series begins as an ordinary melodrama, then turns into a detective story, but in the end it turns out that it is neither one nor the other, thanks to the final twist. However, the clues here will have to wait, the action unfolds rather smoothly, new skeletons are pouring out of the cabinets, and the viewer's attitude to the main characters is constantly changing. Bad Cheating Husband? Unhappy wife? A love-hungry single mother? Well, well, everything is not so simple and formulaic here.
The plot is based on one of the most scandalous criminal cases in Soviet history - the case of the “Vitebsk strangler” Gennady Mikhasevich. From 1971 to 1985, he committed 36 murders, and the investigators made more than ten mistakes. According to the plot, the case is assigned to a local police officer, Mikhail Shakhnovich, and a specialist from Minsk, Leonid Ipatiev, is sent to help him. He quickly realizes that Vitebsk colleagues are not particularly zealous in their work: the system is based on bribes and fabricated cases. And while Shakhnovich arrests the first ones who come across, the bodies of women continue to be found in the region.
Technically, this is a new season, not a new series, but given the fact that eight years have passed since the end of the last episode, it can be recorded as new. The series is often featured in selections about failed finals, so the new season about a maniac who wants justice will be very useful!
To begin with, this is a film adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name, which topped the 2006 Publishers Weekly bestseller list. And the main role in the series is played by Julianne Moore: her heroine Lizzie after the death of her husband learns a lot of interesting things about him. Perhaps too many.
Nine Complete Strangers
Nine Perfect Strangers is the bestselling novel by Leanne Moriarty, author of Big Little Lies, and has been revisited by David Edward Kelly. Nine successful people come to an elite resort, where Nicole Kidman's heroine meets them. Everyone brought their injuries and their pain there, but whether he can cope with them and find joy and peace is the very question.
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
It is based on Stuart Turton's novel, which has often been compared to Agatha Christie's detectives and Groundhog Day. The detective constantly wakes up in a new body, but on the same day, when the heiress of a wealthy family is killed at a masquerade.
