No energy and everything is annoying: how to recognize chronic fatigue syndrome

Do you know that? I woke up and immediately got tired, there is no strength even for the simplest actions, and what used to be pleasing, now does not cause any emotions. If you are constantly in a bad mood and irritability, it is possible that this is not just overwork, but chronic fatigue syndrome.

No energy and everything is annoying: how to recognize chronic fatigue syndrome

Together with psychiatrist Igor Dolgushin, an international expert in the development of brain skills and abilities, a cognitive neurorehabilitation therapist and an expert of the Mental Market project, we understand what chronic fatigue syndrome is, how to identify it and how to help the body cope with the disease.

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Each of us at least once in our life was in a state where even after a long sleep you feel tired and empty. This is especially familiar to young mothers who, due to the new regime and lifestyle, begin to confuse day with night, or students who are trying to write a diploma non-stop.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is recognized as an independent disease by the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. It affects 17 million people in the world - we are talking only about diagnosed cases, so the number can be safely multiplied by two. It was once considered a complication after a viral illness. Symptoms of the syndrome can last for years, making it difficult to determine which virus has affected a person. Today, CFS is perceived as an independent diagnosis.

The danger of the disease is that CFS is a systemic problem. Over time, harmless symptoms become serious pathologies, which can be difficult to get rid of.

How to recognize chronic fatigue syndrome?

If for a long time you cannot concentrate on important tasks, you are in a bad mood, you think negatively, you are forgetful, irritable, nervous, absent-minded, it's time to pay attention to the signals of your body.

Should also cause concern: shortness of breath, numbness of the limbs, cramps, muscle pain, tremors, heart palpitations, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, susceptibility to colds and viral diseases, increased fatigue, persistent fatigue even after rest and prolonged sleep.

In our body, all processes are associated with the nervous system. Prolonged being in a depressed state provokes the activation of nerve impulses, which respond in the form of skin rashes, allergic reactions, tics, exacerbation of chronic diseases.

If this condition has been observed for more than three months, you need to contact a specialist.

Why does chronic fatigue syndrome occur?

A study of patients with diagnosed chronic fatigue syndrome showed that the disease is associated with a disruption in the activity of the brain area responsible for inhibitory processes.

This is influenced by a long stay in a monotonous mode, for example, a person is engaged only in intellectual work to the detriment of physical or other mental activity. Other factors also affect: ecology, weather, stress, the atmosphere at home and at work.

At risk are people with chronic diseases, irregular schedules, residents of large cities.

What can help prevent chronic fatigue syndrome?

There is no single treatment for the syndrome. Each disease can proceed in its own way. The main task is to improve performance. The impact on the body should be complex. In addition to the treatment regimen prescribed by the attending physician, general recommendations must be followed.

Regular brain training

Training is needed not only for the body, but also for the brain. The lack of a variety of mental activities leads to an acceleration of the aging process. If you want to prolong your youth, start actively pumping gray matter.

You only need 20 minutes a day. The main goal is to make the brain work in an unfamiliar way. Thanks to this, the "sleepy" neural connections will begin to activate. The new experience will increase performance and improve well-being.

Incorporate some exercise into your daily tasks today.

  • Write any phrase. Then come up with a few other options to keep the meaning of the first phrase. Important: there should not be the same words.
  • Find a picture with many different elements. Look at her for a minute. Then close the picture and write down everything that you remember.
  • Take a pencil in each hand. Write or draw something first with one hand, then with the other. Then complicate the task - can you use two hands at once?

The exercise may seem daunting. You will feel like a child who is just learning to control his own body, but over time it will become easier. The left and right hemispheres will finally make friends. The stronger the friendship, the easier it is to multitask and work on irregular schedules.

Treatment for Alzheimer's disease includes a range of similar exercises. Patients involved in brain training do not develop the disease as rapidly.

Simple practices can be confusing for adults. But this is precisely the task we are pursuing. We need to change the vector of brain activity. Thanks to this, the body will reboot and stop "hanging".

Physical training

Even if sports are not for you, add at least a little physical activity: walk to work, forget about the existence of an elevator, start walking your neighbor's dog, dance. Any activity helps all body systems to function better. It's only about useful activities, you don't need to work beyond your capabilities.

Vitamins and dietary supplements

The doctor (and only he) can prescribe vitamins A, E, C, B1 / 6/12, magnesium, potassium, calcium, zinc, iodine. Serotonin, the hormone of joy, is often required as adjunctive therapy. Assign the amino acid tryptophan and its derivatives or serotonin itself in the form of injections. In the near future, serotonin will appear on the pharmaceutical market in more convenient forms of release: tablets and special patches.

Controlled stress

To overcome fear, you need to face it. And in order to learn how to manage your energy in stressful situations, you need to voluntarily immerse yourself in such an environment.

If you find yourself in a tense but self-controlled situation, your brain will figure out how to act in a state of emotional instability. In the future, experiencing real psychological stress, it will be easier for you to adapt.

A contrast shower and a bath will help to voluntarily get into a stressful situation:

  • While taking a shower, turn on cold water for 5-10 seconds, then hot water for 5-10 seconds. Do at least 7 cycles in a row, increasing the time each time.
  • Bath or sauna. Gradually increase the time and temperature in the steam room. A visit is possible after assessing the basic health parameters and consulting a doctor.

In the process of a sharp change in temperature, the immune system and autophages - "cleaner cells" are activated. They destroy dead and damaged cells: the body is cleansed and restored.
